Leaders back new blueprint from mayor

-

THE draft of Greater Manchester’s new 20-year masterplan has been officially been signed off by leaders ahead of a public consultation.

A rewritten version of the spatial framework – which maps out where housing and businesses will be built up to 2037 – had been unveiled last week, alongside scores of transport projects Andy Burnham hopes to get off the ground in the next five years.

He also announced plans to charge the dirtiest vans, lorries, buses and HGVs to drive into and around Greater Manchester under new air quality plans designed to slash pollution by 2021.

All were discussed at a special meeting of the combined authority, held in Trafford.

It was agreed that the new spatial framework will officially go out to consultation today.
