Wild remains unbeaten as Latics held at home

-

PETE Wild maintained his unbeaten record as Oldham boss as they fought out a goalless draw at home to Forest Green Rovers.

The Latics, fresh from their FA Cup giantkilling of Premier League Fulham, are now 11th in League Two, five points behind Rovers who occupy the final play-off place.

And Oldham could have secured all three points in the 86th minute when Gevaro Nepomuceno forced a smart save from James Montgomery.

Forest Green almost struck in the first two minutes when Tahvon Campbell’s header was cleared off the line by defender George Edmundson.

George Williams wasted a clear opening, firing straight at Latics goalkeeper Daniel Iversen, while Reece Brown’s shot somehow hit both the crossbar and the post before rebounding to safety.

Oldham came to life and made half-chances for French duo Mohamed Maouche and Mohamad Sylla, while Williams was twice denied by Iversen at the other end.

The Latics keeper also kept out Carl Winchester before Rovers brought on Christian Doidge, whose loan spell at Bolton was recently cut short amid a dispute between the clubs.

Latics now travel to struggling Macclesfield Town on Saturday.
