Dale’s new signing vows to fight until the end in bid for survival

NEW Rochdale signing Ethan Ebanks-Landell has vowed to help the Dale avoid the drop this season, as he looks to avoid having another relegation on his footballing CV.

The 26-year-old is a product of the Wolves youth academy and joined Rochdale on a loan deal last week, as paperwork for the deal was complete before the deadline day of Friday.

The defender made his first appearance for the club during their 2-1 defeat to Peterborough on Saturday, as he came on as a second-half substitute and saw Keith Hill’s men put in a spirited performance despite the defeat.

Ebanks-Landell has vowed to save the club from relegation.

He said: “The Gaffer has said that it’s going to be a fight and that’s what I’m ready for - I’ll keep going right to the end. There’s a chance of staying up and we all think that we will [avoid relegation], that’s why I’m here. The Gaffer has expressed that to me, too, and that’s what we’ve got to believe.”

The former Bury player revealed that one reason why he is very determined to avoid relegation is that he’s already endured relegation twice in his career and going down again will not look good on his CV.

He said: “I’ve had two promotions and two relegations and I know which one I’d prefer, so I’d rather not have another relegation on my CV.”

Born in West Bromwich, Ebanks-Landell made his firstteam debut for Wolves in 2010, but began his youth career at the club way back in 2001.

While he has spent two loan spells at Bury and one at both Sheffield United and MK Dons, he has also made about 51 appearances in the first team for Wolves.
