Thanks to councillor for doing tough job

-

IN October 2017 my very dear Aunt Mabel died at the age of 87 in Chester. I was her only living relative so it was to me that her last wishes fell.

One of these wishes was for me to find a person in Stalybridge to guide the spending of a large bequest.

Mable was born in Carrbrook and had very fond memories of growing up here and in Stalybridge itself. By giving this bequest she wanted to give something back to a community that she had loved so much.

Mable had also always followed Conservative values and beliefs, so she wanted me to give the money to a Conservative Councillor, who she knew would spend her money wisely. I therefore contacted Councillor Clive Patrick for the first time.

I think he was a bit bemused by my original contact. He must of grasped what a big job I was giving him. However, Clive took up the challenge and has come up trumps.

Therefore I would like to thank Councillor Patrick very much for a job well done.

I know how hard he worked to spend the money efficiently, but in a way Mabel would have liked.

Since my Aunt’s death the money has in fact been added to greatly by a number of her friends and this has now been spent in the same wise way by Clive.

He has spent it on various projects in her name in Carrbrook and Stalybridge itself.

A large flowerbed has been rejuvenated and huge planters have been sited it three places.

Having been a primary school teacher Mabel would be particularly pleased that a playground in Millbrook has a new seesaw.

Just before Christmas, Councillor Patrick arranged two brass band carol concerts for the elderly and pantomimes for school children. He also spent a large amount of money on toys which were then distributed to local children via a food bank.

I am convinced my Aunt Mabel will be looking down on Stalybridge and would be beaming from ear-toear. Thanks again Councillor Patrick!
