Pub-goers flee as man brandishes power saw
TERRIFIED customers were forced to run for cover after a man walked into a busy pub revving a power saw .
Mobile phone footage of the worrying incident in Sale, Trafford, was posted on Facebook and sent to the M.E.N. after being shared widely.
Thankfully it’s not thought anyone was hurt.
Drinkers in the Bull’s Head Hotel on Cross Street, Sale, said the man, who appeared to be wearing a blue coat and a black woollen hat, walked inside through a back door at around 11.30pm on Friday night.
The footage shows the man walk up a small flight of stairs to a seating area inside the pub carrying the circular Stihl saw.
The saw’s continual whir, which rises and falls throughout the video as it is revved up, can be heard over the screams and cries from those inside as he enters.
The video appears to capture a woman shouting ‘no.’
One man jumps out of the way as the man with the saw appears to place it down onto a table full of glasses.
People sat around the table quickly jump up and move out of the way - and one appears to use a chair for protection. A table was also knocked to the floor during the disturbance.
A drinker who was in the pub at the time said the saw’s blade cut into a wooden chair. They said: “No one could believe it. “It must have been around 11.30pm or midnight on Friday – last orders is at around 1am.
“He just came walking in and went for a lad. The saw cut into a bit of chair.
“He was squeezing the trigger and revving it up. It was all just surreal and I could not believe what was happening.”
The video footage cuts away after the man appears to start shouting at someone.
“He managed to reach a table and came through a back door,” the witness added.
“All the bouncers were straight onto him and the saw was taken off him. It all happened within a split second. The lads on the door got a grip of him.”
Another man who was in the pub at the time said police were called.
The M.E.N. has sent the footage to Greater Manchester Police and asked the force for comment.
It’s not known whether any arrests have been made.
