Sterling: We will keep piling on pressure

- By DAN O’TOOLE

RAHEEM Sterling says City will focus on maintaining their performance levels in the race for the Premier League title.

The Blues hit Chelsea for six at the Etihad to return to the top of the table and extend their goal difference advantage over Liverpool.

The Anfield outfit have a game in hand on the Blues but Sterling, who scored twice against Chelsea, says City will not get carried away by their performance yesterday.

“It was just a win, another three points,” he said. “We scored a lot of goals but the most important thing was to deliver a good performance and get the three points and that’s what we did.”

And the 24-year-old Sterling said Blues boss Pep Guardiola prepared his side for the game perfectly.

“It was a terrific performance from the team,” Sterling explained.

“Straight after the Everton game the manager set us up getting us ready for this game.

“It took a lot of preparation and I think we did really well.

“We stuck to the plan and it worked well.”

Sergio Aguero’s hat-trick was his second in three games and saw him draw him level with Alan Shearer’s haul of 11 Premier League match balls.

And Sterling says the Argentine is a joy to behold.

“He is a player that we depend on,” he said.

“You see the first strike, he can put the ball in the top corner.

“Players like this you’ve got to cherish them.

“He was fantastic and so were the rest of the team.”
