Difference on the menu

ONE of Greater Manchester’s top restaurants is hosting a one-off charity dinner – and the booking system is as experimental as the menu promises to be.

Stockport’s acclaimed Where the Light Gets In is opening up its kitchen like never before, inviting 22 guests to drink and dine alongside its chefs on Tuesday, April 9.

The experimental, multi-course dinner will let chef Samuel Buckley and his team cut loose, trying out techniques and ideas that have yet to make it to the menu and creating dishes from discussions in the kitchen.

Seats are being auctioned on eBay, starting at 99p – and come with quirky bonuses ranging from a Cyndi Lauper 12-inch single to a pottery girl and goose figurine.

Each includes the full dinner and a drinks pairing comprising four glasses of natural wine.

The experience is a collaboration with Full Fat, a fundraising team holding charity food and drink events in memory of John-Paul Cassidy.

JP, as he was known to his friends, was a much-loved member of Manchester’s food and drink community and passed away last year.

All proceeds from the evening will be donated to Full Fat’s charities: Keep Our NHS Public – a campaign group working to maintain a publicly funded NHS – and Headway, a charity that supports people affected by brain injury.

More than £11,000 was raised at Full Fat’s first event at Fairfield Social Club last summer and the team also brewed a beer – named JPA – with Cloudwater.

Tickets to the Where the Light Gets In dinner are on sale now and can be found via the restaurant’s website, or by searching Full Fat x WTLGI on eBay.
