Broken car park barriers cause delay

-

DRIVERS had to wait for an hour to leave a city centre car park after the exit barriers broke.

NCP has apologised after reports about 100 drivers were stuck in the Manchester Central car park between 10pm and 11pm.

Roger Souter was one of the frustrated motorists trapped in the car park when two of the barriers stopped working.

The 58-year-old, from Cheadle Hulme, was on his way home from a Mike and The Mechanics gig at the Bridgewater Hall on Monday.

Roger had paid £7.50 for a four-hour ticket, he said.

The PR firm director said: “It was very frustrating. There must have been 50 cars to each barrier.”

Roger said it wasn’t until an hour later that a workman from NCP came out to fix the problem.

He said: “It was just a joke. We didn’t know what was going on.”

An NCP spokeswoman said: “We apologise for any delays that were caused.”
