Charges over alleged abuse

-

A MAN and woman have been charged after a taxi driver was allegedly subjected to abuse and threats which police said referenced the New Zealand terror attacks.

Police were called to Queensway, Rochdale, at 12.20am on Sunday. GMP said Natalie Rudman and Sean Allen have been charged with a racially-aggravated public order offence.

Ms Rudman, 34, from the Heywood area, and Mr Allen, 33, from the Collyhurst area, have been bailed to appear at Manchester and Salford magistrates court on April 9, the force said.

The atrocity has sparked global revulsion and vigils have been held across the world, including in Manchester city centre.

GMP said officers have visited mosques in Greater Manchester to speak to congregations and offer reassurance.

In a statement GMP said: “Two people have been charged after a taxi driver was subjected to abuse and threats that referenced the New Zealand terrorist attacks.”
