-

A YOUNG woman suffered serious injuries in a crash that left her trapped inside her car.

Emergency services were called to Dewsnap Lane in Dukinfield just before 5.30pm on Sunday to reports of a collision between an Audi Q3 and a Vauxhall Insignia.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a woman in her 20s, was rescued from the car by firefighters who had to cut her free. She was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary by ambulance crews with serious fracture injuries.

Two others, who had been travelling in the Audi, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Tameside Hospital.

Dewsnap Lane was closed for several hours at the junction with Birch Lane while investigation work was carried out.

A spokesman for GMFRS said: “We were called at 5.34pm to Dewsnap Lane to reports of an RTC involving two vehicles.

“Two people were able to selfrescue from one of the vehicles before crews arrived.

“One woman had to be cut from her vehicle and was taken to hospital with serious injuries. We sent two pumps and the Technical Response Unit to the scene.”
