Sam dishes out a right old Hyde-ing
SAM Hyde made light work of his latest test as he claimed a devastating knockout of Jiri Svacina.
The Sale cruiserweight, 25, took his record to 15-1 as he despatched the Czech Republic fighter in the fourth round on Joe Gallagher’s M22 Promotions bill at Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre in Wythenshawe.
It was just Hyde’s second fight since suffering a nasty haematoma over his right eye in the WBA inter-continental title fight with British rival Richard Riakporhe at the Manchester Arena in November.
The bill, Gallagher’s second as a promoter, also saw a win for Hattersley middleweight Marcus Morrison, who blew away Nicaraguan Edwin Palacios in the first round.
Last time out Morrison pulled off a shock win over Emanuele Blandamura to claim the WBC international silver crown in Rome.
Heywood southpaw Nathan Farrell made it two wins from two with a super-lightweight points victory over Ivan Godor of Slovakia, while former world title contender Paul Butler beat Mexican southpaw joseafat Reyes Gomez, also on points.
Altrincham featherweight George Brennan claimed the 10th win of his career with a points win against fellow Brit Ricky Leach, and there was a debut victory for light-heavyweight Wycombe King, from Cheshire, as he claimed a points victory over Ryan Hibbert.
Middleton welterweight Connor Lynch improved to 5-0 with victory over Daryl Pearce.
■ FORMER world super-middleweight champion Nigel Benn is poised to make a boxing comeback of sorts at the age of 55.
Benn, who has not fought since his rematch defeat to Steve Collins in 1996, has been refused a licence by the British Boxing Board of Control - but will instead fight under the auspices of the British and Irish Boxing Authority (BIBA).
