Manager can’t give any positives over injury comebacks

- By SAMUEL LUCKHURST

UNITED could be without Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford – as well as Paul Pogba – against Arsenal.

Martial has been out for more than a month with a thigh injury and Rashford missed the League Cup win over Rochdale with a groin strain.

Mason Greenwood is poised to start, as the only recognised striker.

Luke Shaw (hamstring) has resumed full training and will be assessed before the Monday night encounter. Phil Jones and long-term absentee Eric Bailly are out.

“Er... not really!” Solskjaer said when asked if he had any positive team news.

“Luke’s back in training today, so let’s see how he is. He’s getting there so let’s see how he reacts the next couple of days. He’s been working really hard, so we hope to see him before the international break. Maybe Monday, but not too sure.

“Rashford and Martial? I wouldn’t put my life on it but that’s part of this game, you work with what you have and we’re looking forward to this game.”

Arsenal have won their last three games since they surrendered a 2-0 lead at Watford to draw 2-2 and are back in the top four. A first Premier League win at Old Trafford since 2006 would take them six points ahead of United but Solskjaer is immune to the intense scrutiny.

“I don’t worry about what other people or what the press write about other teams,” Solskjaer stressed. “I don’t worry about what the press writes about or about me or Man United because we are focused on what we have to do and that is to keep improving.”
