Family’s plea for return of tragic mum’s jewellery
WOMAN’S DYING WISH WAS FOR ITEMS TO GO TO DAUGHTER
A GRIEVING family has been left devastated after thieves stole a late mum’s jewellery that was being saved for her young daughter.
Sian Harrison-Smith was only 42 when she passed away from motor neurone disease in 2017.
The brave mum was first diagnosed with the condition when she was pregnant with her daughter Isabella, now seven.
As Sian approached the end of her life, she asked her family to save several items of deeply sentimental jewellery, so they could be passed on to the little girl when she grew up.
But last Friday, thieves burgled the home of one of her family members in Stockport and stole a safe containing Sian’s jewellery.
Now Sian’s devastated husband, Lee Smith, has made an appeal to get the jewellery back. The burglary has been reported to police, and Lee is prepared to offer a reward of £2,000 for the safe return of the jewellery and information leading to a conviction.
The stolen jewellery includes a diamond engagement ring, a wedding band with the inscription ‘Trust, respect & always my heart,’ a platinum and diamond eternity ring, and a white gold pearl pendant with three diamond studs.
Lee, from Stockport, said: “Sian chose the things that she wanted saving for her daughter. We all feel absolutely devastated.”
The burglary occurred some time between Friday, October 18, and the morning of Saturday, October 19, on Bulkeley Street in Edgeley.
