Revealed... £45m plan for town centre revamp
NEW images of a multi-million pound scheme aiming to transform Bolton town centre have been revealed.
The ambitious plans are for Trinity Gateway, on the former site of Wayne Walker Quality Meats, at the corner of Trinity Street and Bradshawgate.
The £45million proposals include a 20-storey city centre-style apartment block, 30,000 sq ft of office space and a 494-space multi-storey car park.
The latest set of artist impressions show how the residential tower of 144 apartments will come to dominate the town’s skyline.
At 230ft high, it will eclipse the current tallest building, the town hall clock tower, which stands at 198ft. The project is one of five ‘intervention areas’ in Bolton Council’s £1.5billion masterplan to transform the town centre.
The Trinity Gateway development, which is led by Beechlane Investments Ltd, also includes a large area of public open space and it is hoped it will kick-start the wider regeneration of the town centre.
Alec Colbeck, Beechlane development director, said: “Trinity Gateway is a truly transformative project and one which will elevate the profile of the town and set a new benchmark for quality in Bolton.”
Residents were invited to have their say on the plans at a public consultation held at the former Clarks shoes shop, in Crompton Place, today. Another consultation was due to be held from 3pm-7pm on Monday at the same location.
Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr David Greenhalgh, said: “The council’s £1.5bn masterplan aims to revitalise our town centre, making it a more desirable place to live and work.
“Trinity Gateway is a key part of this vision, delivering quality new apartments and Grade A office space and breathing new life into the area.”
The plans are expected to be submitted to Bolton Council this month and, should they be approved, work could start next year.
