ANT & DEC’S DNA JOURNEY ITV, 9pm

ANT has had his troubles with rehab and drink driving, so this series has come across a bit like a therapy session as well as a DNA journey.

“It’s such a relief to have him back,” said Dec at the end of yesterday’s first episode. “We’re much stronger together now.” While Ant welled up: “This has made us look at each other in a different way. He means the world to me.”

In what feels a bit like historical discovery mixed with upbeat game show, the pair get DNA alerts on their phones as they enthusiastically travel from place to place, clue to clue, investigating their family trees.

Tonight, they are off to America and a surprise visit to the United Nations HQ.

COMEDY THE YOUNG OFFENDERS BBC1, 10.35pm

INNER-CITY idiots Conor and Jock are back causing trouble, navigating their teenage years in the most offensive way possible.

This is the second series of the craic-filled comedy that follows the Cork reprobates as they hatch plans to distract from their tough home lives.

Anything that starts with a ridiculous bike chase through a shopping centre – involving a downhill escalator stunt – has to be worth watching.

The whole escapade distracts from what Conor (Alex Murphy) and Jock (Chris Walley) should really be doing – going to the hospital for Siobhan’s baby scan, but her dad, who happens to be the school Principal, has a challenge for him first. Can he look after an egg for a whole month without breaking it?

It all sets up a cracking series start.
