MIDFIELDER SAYS CITY NEEDED TO BE MORE CLINICAL

RODRI has claimed City were the better team in the 3-1 defeat by Liverpool.

The midfielder believes the only way in which Jurgen Klopp’s team were superior than the Blues was in front of goal, as they took the three chances that came their way.

Liverpool’s win gave them a ninepoint lead over the Blues, even though City had 55 per cent possession, 15 shots to their opponents’ seven and won 13 corners to four.

The vital stats were that Klopp’s men got five of their shots on target, as opposed to City’s three - and three of them hit the net, of course, with only Bernardo Silva’s late goal offering City any hope.

“They were more clinical than us, I think that was the key factor,” said Rodri.

“I think we were much better overall, we created more chances than them, but they arrived to our goal three times and scored three goals.

“I want to congratula­te my teammates and all the coaching staff, because it’s not easy going there, in that atmosphere, and fight until the end like we did.

“We tried everything to win, but they have been more clinical in front of goal. That’s the summary.

“I don’t think they have been much better than us, but they have scored the chances they had.

“I think we never gave up, we have created many chances and I can’t remember many chances created by them apart from the goals.

“It’s true that they are very talented in front. We have a bitter-sweet feeling, because we wanted to win, and it couldn’t happen in the end. When you give space to a team like this, one of the top sides in Europe, you are going to
