Hatters aiming for play-offs

- NON-LEAGUE By CONNOR WHITLEY

STOCKPORT County travel to Barnet in the National League today with Barnet without a home league victory since September 17.

After 11 points from their last six games, a Hatters victory could mean they find themselves within just one point of the play-offs.

Manager Jim Gannon is hoping his side can continue their momentum.

He said: “We’re satisfied with the performances we’ve had, and we now want to move into the next six games and replicate that.”

Curzon Ashton host York City in the National League North after recording their first victory in 12 league games last weekend.

Despite losing to Altrincham in the FA Cup last weekend, York remain unbeaten in the league and sit at the top of the table.

Altrincham, who face Portsmouth in the second round of the FA Cup after their win at York, host Hereford in the National League North today in their first home league game since September 7.

After last weekend’s victory over high-flying York City in the FA Cup, Robins assistant manager Neil Sorvel hopes that his side can maintain their standards:

“If we play to that level, we’re more than capable of beating anyone in this league,” he said.

FC United travel to Witton Albion in the Northern Premier with both sides sitting on 22 points and occupying fifth and sixth places respectively, but Witton have played one less game.

Ashton United host fourth place Warrington Town in the Northern Premier.

Despite having 14 points fewer than Warrington, Ashton will take confidence from a 1-0 away victory over their opponents in the first round of the FA Trophy last month.
