Katie’s chilling out after her soap exit

-

EX-CORONATION Street star Katie McGlynn was all smiles as she put her skates on at the launch of the ice rink at MediaCityUK. Katie, from Littleborough, made her first public appearance since the death of her character, Sinead Osbourne, in the ITV1 soap, and she was delighted to be reunited with her co-star Lisa George who plays Sinead’s auntie Beth Sutherland.

Katie, who warded off the chill in a fluffy lilac jacket and matching hat, skated the night away after her harrowing departure from the Street, alongside Lisa who came to check out the ice rink ahead of her appearance on the new series of Dancing on Ice.

Sharing a photo of herself with Lisa and her friend, Lee Bennett, she captioned the snap ‘Family.’

In heartbreaking scenes screened last month young mum and newlywed Sinead lost her battle with cervical cancer.

She told her auntie Beth that she loved her before passing away peacefully at home with her husband, Daniel, and their baby son Bertie by her side.

Katie, who had played Sinead for almost seven years, felt like she was actually grieving and the storyline affected her so much she imagined seeing her character in the street and hearing her voice.

Eventually she had sessions with a mental health specialist to help her to come to terms with Sinead’s death. Opening up to the Sunday Mirror Katie said: “It was like the storyline got embedded in my head, I couldn’t stop thinking about it and crying.”
