Soap star’s post-baby body blues

-

BROOKE Vincent has said she has been left ‘overwhelmed’ after being inundated with messages of support when she admitted she ‘felt ashamed’ over her postbaby body. The Coronation Street star welcomed her first child with Sheffield United footballer boyfriend, Kean Bryan, last month, a boy named Mexx S J Bryan.

But earlier this week, Brooke posted a photo of herself to Instagram in her pyjamas after cancelling a date night with her other half, saying she was ‘supposed to look completely different’ and thought that a month after giving birth she should be ‘looking exactly like’ she did before she fell pregnant.

The 27-year-old, who plays Sophie Webster in the ITV soap, admitted she ‘cried and felt ashamed’ that she hasn’t been ‘able to pick up where I left off like people seem to do here on Instagram!’

After receiving lots of messages from fellow celebs and followers, Brooke wrote: “The messages I have received over this post are overwhelming.

“I just want people to know I’m not too upset, it was more a realisation that what we see on Instagram is definitely not real life and yet it has such a huge influence on us in so many different situations,” she said.

“Thank you all for your kind messages! And if in doubt, wear watermelon pjs.”

Partner Kean was one of the first to respond, commenting: “I wanted beans on toast anyway B. We love you, bab.”

Fellow Corrie star and on-screen sister Helen Flanagan also added: “Love you, you’re amazing Brooke. The most natural mummy.”

Writing to her thousands of followers, Brooke said: “Tonight I was supposed to look completely different, I was supposed to be dressed up, hair and make-up done ready to eat some nice food and maybe have my first cocktail in 11 months with Kean, our first time away from Mexx for an hour or two, instead I look like this.

“I tried 23 outfits on at least, nothing looked right, nothing looked like me and I felt like I was looking at a completely different person, I suppose to a certain extent I now am, I am Mexx’s mum.”

Brooke added: “The reason for this post is that even when you’re in this bizarre industry you still get sucked in, you still feel a certain way when you see other’s posts.”
