Roo-mantic break in the sun

Manchester Evening News - - THE DIARY -

WAYNE and Coleen Rooney looked happy and relaxed as they enjoyed a sunshine holiday together.

The former United footballer and his wife are making a new start in the UK after moving back from the United States as Wayne prepares to become player-coach at Derby County. And the doting parents, who have four young sons Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass, have been spending some quality time as a couple before he starts his new role in the new year.

“Gorgeous time away. Can’t wait to see my boys,” said Coleen as she shared holiday snaps with her fans on her Instagram from their stay at the luxury Mandarin Oriental Jumeira hotel in Dubai.

And fans were pleased to see them on such good form after a rocky time.

“Looking happy and relaxed guys,” said one follower.

“Lovely to see you two having a some quality time together,” said another.

This summer, Wayne denied cheating after photos emerged of him in a hotel lobby in Canada with a mystery woman at 5.30am following a night out with his former team-mates at Washington club DC United. The married father-of-four issued a statement to proclaim his innocence.

He hit back to say he did not enter a lift alone with the woman he was pictured with – and he said a woman he was photographed with in a nightclub was one of many fans who asked for autographs and pictures. Wayne, 34, tweeted: “Nothing happened between me and any girl on that night in Vancouver. I did not enter the lift alone with the girl pictured in the hotel foyer. The girl pictured in the club was simply one of many who innocently asked for autographs and pictures.”

In the statement the footballer claimed he had been followed by a freelance photographer without his knowledge or permission.

Calling the claims ‘completely untrue’ he added: “The whole story was a smear against me. It is damaging to my family and not something I am prepared to put up with.”

The former Reds captain left boyhood club Everton for Washington DC last summer and took his family with him.

The Rooneys headed back to the UK after it was claimed that Coleen, 33, and their boys had been feeling ‘unsettled’ in the States.
