Both be seeing me very soon – you’re dead, trust me...

REVENGE PORN THUG’S CHILLING THREAT TO EX AND BOYFRIEND

- By SOPHIE WHEELER

A BRUTE who posted nude pictures of his ex-girlfriend on social media after they split up has been jailed for almost four years.

Scaffolder Dale Grimes, 25, put two intimate pictures of the woman on a WhatsApp group when he found out she was dating another man.

The victim urged Grimes to take down the images – but not before 25 people had seen them.

The father-of-one later sent the woman a series of threatening messages after discovering she had reported the ‘revenge porn attack’ to police.

He sent her a selfie with the caption ‘show this picture to your boyfriend so he knows what’s coming for him.’

He later attacked the couple at a petrol station before slashing the tyres of their car with a penknife.

A text he sent the following day read: “Both be seeing me very soon. You’re dead – trust me.”

The incidents occurred just six months after Grimes, from Salford, was given a suspended jail term over a drunken rampage at a holiday park in North Wales, in which he threatened a sea fisherman at knifepoint.

At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, Grimes admitted disclosing private sexual photographs with intent to cause distress, assault by beating, sending threatening messages and criminal damage and was jailed for 45 months.

He also pleaded guilty to unrelated offences of racially aggravated assault and affray over an incident at a Tesco Express store in February 2018.

The court heard Grimes began terrorising his ex-girlfriend in January this year after they split up.

Prosecutor Andrew MacIntosh said: ‘’He posted two indecent images of her on a WhatsApp account. She texted the defendant to remove them.

“The defendant told her that some 25 people had looked at these images before being taken down. Later he created an Instagram account and sent messages to her calling her a ‘grass’ as she had contacted the police.

“That evening she and her boyfriend drove to a petrol station in Salford. He remained in the car but when she got out she saw the defendant approached.

“The defendant said the boyfriend opened the door and grabbed hold of him in a headlock. She saw the defendant had a penknife and a struggle ensued with the boyfriend screaming at the defendant to stop.

‘“The boyfriend received two cuts. The defendant then, having assaulted the boyfriend, punctured the vehicles tyres. The following day she received two messages from the defendant saying ‘both be seeing me very soon. You’re dead - trust me.’ In mitigation, Grimes’ lawyer Matthew Howarth said: “He clearly has mental health issues including undiagnosed ADHD and underlying depression. He lost his grandmother and uncle and he was very close to both and he started drinking very heavily.

“It’s not an excuse to behave as he did but he has genuine remorse and is fully apologetic for his actions.

Sentencing, Judge Tina Landale told Grimes: “You may say you were suffering emotional upheaval but only a custodial sentence can be justified. Your attack demonstrated your incapability of leaving your partner alone.”

Grimes was also banned from contacting his ex-girlfriend for three years under the terms of a restraining order.
