More liv­ing with can­cer

THE num­ber of peo­ple liv­ing with can­cer has risen by al­most a fifth in five years to al­most three mil­lion, new fig­ures sug­gest.

New data compiled by Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port shows that 1.27 mil­lion men and 1.62 mil­lion women are ex­pected to be liv­ing with can­cer in the UK in 2020.

This is al­most 500,000 cases more than the fig­ure for 2015.

Call­ing for more fund­ing from the next gov­ern­ment, Macmil­lan said the rea­sons be­hind the rise are a grow­ing pop­u­la­tion and the fact that peo­ple are liv­ing longer.
