County eye eighth spot

STOCK­PORT County’s Na­tional League fix­ture at Torquay United today rep­re­sents the half­way point of their season.

They cur­rently sit in 13th po­si­tion and five points out­side the play-offs.

Jim Gan­non’s men are four games un­beaten on the road and a win against Torquay could see them leapfrog their op­po­nents into eighth.

How­ever, the Hat­ters lost the re­verse fix­ture in Septem­ber when four first-half goals, in­clud­ing two from League top scorer Jamie Reid, saw County slump to a 4-0 de­feat.

FC United host Lan­caster City in the North­ern Pre­mier as they look to make it nine un­beaten in all com­pe­ti­tions.

The two sides played out a 0-0 draw in Septem­ber and FC United face an­other tough test as Lan­caster are on their own nine-game un­beaten run in the league.

Ash­ton United parted ways with man­ager Jody Banim on Mon­day, mean­ing it will be Josh Wil­son in in­terim charge when the Robins host Rad­cliffe Bor­ough in the North­ern Pre­mier.

Bor­ough pose a tough test hav­ing won their last four games.

Former Ather­ton Col­lieries boss Michael Clegg will take per­ma­nent charge of the Robins on Mon­day. He guided Ather­ton to three pro­mo­tions along­side win­ning two cups in his five years in charge.

Cur­zon Ash­ton have no Na­tional League North game due to the FA Cup.
