What the council says...

A MANCHESTER council spokesman said: “As part of an extensive review of at-risk buildings in the Northern Quarter, building control officers requested access to the private site.

“Following a visit, officers assessed the building as imminently at risk of collapse and a formal notice was immediately served informing the owner that he must act at the property as quickly as possible.

“This will unfortunately likely require demolition.

“If the owner does not comply in a timely manner, the council will be forced to step in to act on the owner’s behalf. Following any demolition, the owner will be required to replace the property with a similar structure.”
