Rail figures don’t add up

Manchester Evening News - - LETTERS, COMMENTS AND EMAILS -

THE Labour Party has pledged to reduce rail fares by 33 per cent at a cost of £1.5 billion.

The total value of fares paid by passengers for the period 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018 (figures for 2018/19 are not yet available) were £9.9billion, as published in Rail Magazine.

One third of which would be a cost of £3.3billion.

Once again the Labour Party figures do not add up. J Hedley, Ramsbottom
