Molly’s troll torment

MOLLY-MAE ON IMPACT OF ABUSE SHE SUFFERS FROM ONLINE TROLLS

-

MOLLY-MAE Hague has opened up on the amount of online abuse she has received since leaving Love Island in July. The 20-year-old and boyfriend Tommy Fury made it all the way to the final of the ITV2 reality series and their every move has been followed by fans ever since.

But Molly has found herself at the centre of abuse from trolls including one comment on a bikini snap which said she looked ‘old and fat.’

“I was reading through comments on a bikini photo of me and they were so mean,” Molly told OK! Magazine.

“Someone commented that they have a better body and they have six kids. I got so upset.” The social media influencer added that she had put on weight after adopting a healthier lifestyle.

She said: “I was a stone and a half lighter a year ago but that’s because I was at the gym twice a day, and was obsessed with my diet – all I was eating was couscous and rice. It was probably unhealthy, and I was extremely underweight for my height.

“I was a size four. I might not be as confident in my body as I was before, but I am healthier.”

Molly was speaking in a joint interview with boxer beau Tommy who quickly added: “People only write those things because they are jealous. If you take notice of them, then you’re a fool. You might as well go listen to the giraffes at the zoo.”

The couple also confronted people who criticised their infamous chicken dinner.

Tommy, 20, uploaded an Instagram story of a meal his girlfriend cooked for him but the dish was slammed by followers, including singer Lily Allen.

“The comments can be really intense, like when everyone went mad over the chicken dinner,” Molly said. “It’s very patchy. Sometimes it’s all good, and then other times it’s like the world hates me.

“I wanted to go on my Instagram stories and tell everyone he’d asked for that chicken meal because he’s on a strict diet, but why would I even justify myself?”

On how she deals with the comments, Molly said: “I make these ranting videos to get things off my chest and send them to my managers, but I never post them.

“I’ve got ten videos on my phone talking about the chicken alone. The fact that people took the time to make memes and videos made me think, do you not have anything better to do?”
