Strikes bring France to a stand­still

FRANCE’S high-speed trains stood still and sev­eral thou­sand peo­ple protested in Paris as unions launched na­tion­wide strikes over Pres­i­dent Em­manuel Macron’s plan to over­haul the state pen­sion sys­tem. Work­ers fear Mr Macron’s re­forms will force them to work longer.
