Privatisation is Tory legacy

Manchester Evening News - - LETTERS, COMMENTS AND EMAILS -

IN the 80s I worked for the NHS in theatre. The then Tory government brought in an in-house policy for cleaners, domestics and ward clerks and was put out to tender.

Guess what? The private companies put in a cheaper bid and won. After a couple of months the domestics, cleaners and others were told they did not work for the NHS and were offered new contracts, going from full-time to part-time with no holiday pay, no sickness pay and a cut in wages. This is the Tory legacy: private, private, private. K. Parr, Eccles
