INSIDE: CUETO – SHARKS ARE READY FOR 2020 P55

Manchester Evening News - - SPORT -

CITY players missed last night’s club Christmas party – to avoid another festive crash.

The Blues lost successive games against Crystal Palace and Leicester last year, within a week of attending the big staff bash.

So manager Pep Guardiola decided to impose a curfew this year, after the Blues slumped to a shock 3-2 home defeat by

Palace just two days after they partied along with staff from other departments at the Great Northern Warehouse.

Some players carried on the revelry at the Chinawhite nightclub, staying well into the early hours.

Guardiola is believed to have been unhappy that some were clearly feeling the effects of their night out at training the next day. But after returning home from their 4-1 Champions League win at Dinamo Zagreb, the decision has been taken that players will not attend.

Guardiola met with his coaching staff earlier this year and they decided that the squad would be allowed to attend this year’s event – but would be told to go home early. But with a crunch trip to Arsenal just three days away, the players will stay away entirely.
