Parky picked for ODI bow
HAVING kept his place in the Test squad, Lancashire’s Matthew Parkinson has now been picked for both the ODI and T20I squads for the tour to South Africa.
He is joined in all three squads by Red Rose team-mate Jos Buttler.
While Lancashire fast bowler Saqib Mahmood, who was left out of the Test squad despite having been included in the tour of New Zealand, also receives a maiden ODI call-up
The three-match ODI series begins on February 4 in Cape Town, followed by a three-match T20I series starting on February 12.
Parkinson and Buttler join James Anderson for the Test leg of the series, which comes before the limited-overs games.
Both Parkinson and Mahmood made their debuts in the T20I series in New Zealand, contributing towards an impressive 3-2 series win for the visitors.
Joe Root, meanwhile, has been left out of the Twenty20 squad.
National selector Ed Smith, said: “These two squads were selected with an eye on the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2020.”
