Football agent guilty over bribes
A FOOTBALL agent from Greater Manchester and the former assistant head coach of Barnsley FC have been found guilty of accepting and paying bribes.
The payments were made to facilitate the transfer of players at the South Yorkshire club.
Agents Giuseppe Pagliara (pictured), 64, of Higher
Croft, Whitefield, Bury, and Dax Price, 48, of Upchurch,
Kent, were found guilty at Southwark Crown Court of one count of paying and facilitating a bribe and one count of offering a bribe. Thomas Wright, 53, of Dark Lane, Barnsley, was found guilty of one count of accepting a bribe and one count of requesting a bribe. Wright had previously worked at Oldham Athletic as an assistant coach.
The jury had deliberated for just under 32 hours before returning their majority verdicts on Wright and Price. Pagliara was convicted last week.
The defendants will be sentenced later.
