Cana­dian tonic for gin mas­ters

AR­TI­SAN gin brand Manch­ester Gin is set to en­ter the Cana­dian mar­ket af­ter se­cur­ing a list­ing with the Liquor Con­trol Board of On­tario.

Its award-winning Sig­na­ture gin, which uses dan­de­lion and bur­dock as its botan­i­cals, will be on shelves in the Cana­dian city next month, it said.

The list­ing sees Manch­ester Gin, founded by mas­ter dis­tillers Jen Wig­gins and Seb Hee­ley in 2013, en­ter its eighth ex­port mar­ket, join­ing the likes of Den­mark, the Nether­lands, Bel­gium and Jersey.

Mr Hee­ley said se­cur­ing the Canada list­ing is a ‘dream come true’.

He said: “We ab­so­lutely loved be­ing able to of­fer in­ti­mate Sig­na­ture gin tast­ing ses­sions through one of the world’s largest pur­chasers of al­co­holic drinks.”

The list­ing comes af­ter the re­lo­ca­tion of the brand’s dis­tillery named The Spirit of Manch­ester which lies be­neath Manch­ester Cen­tral on Wat­son Street.

The dis­tillery fea­tures a 1,000 litre still and a bar and restau­rant.
