The ex-Corrie star now backing up Liam
SINGER Rahh remembers singing Wonderwall on the stage in primary school.
Oasis were a big part of her childhood while growing up in Manchester and she was a big fan of their music, but she never imagined that one day she would join Liam Gallagher on stage.
Rahh, real name Holly Quin Ankrah, is one of three backing singers who form Liam’s powerful wall of sound on tour.
This summer Rahh joined Liam and a 24-piece orchestra for his MTV Unplugged special in Hull, and in November she hit the road to play arenas with the former Oasis frontman.
Next year the 28-year-old, who has also performed with Chic legend Nile Rodgers, soul star Beverly Knight, American jazz singer Bobby McFerrin and Dave Stewart of pop legends Eurythmics, will be back on the road with Liam for his European tour dates.
She said: “Performing with Liam was amazing. We were doing sold out arenas and they’re such passionate, laddy fans.
“It’s been incredible becoming a vocalist in his band. This is the first time he’s had backing vocals and it started with the one-off MTV performance.
“When I was growing up in Manchester Oasis were a big part of the music scene and I remember singing Wonderwall.
“So it’s surreal to be on stage singing this song and hearing thousands of people singing it back at you.”
Rahh started out as an actress playing Karen Young in the children’s TV show Grange Hill. And Corrie fans may recognise her from her role as Cheryl Gray, the ex-girlfriend of Lloyd Mullaney played by Craig Charles. She played lapdancer Cheryl from 2010 to 2011.
Rahh will be signing alongside the BBC Philharmonic, who will be playing a selection of Christmas favourites, in the BBC Radio Manchester Christmas Concert, which will be broadcast from 6pm to 7pm on Christmas Eve and noon on Christmas Day.
