Unbeaten run ended as County succumb to ‘offside’ goal

STOCKPORT County’s threegame unbeaten run came to an end as they suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Aldershot Town in the National League.

Devante Rodney’s goal had cancelled out a strike from Craig Tanner before Mohamed Bettamer secured three points for the home side.

The goal was eventually awarded by the referee after initially being flagged offside.

Hatters manager Jim Gannon said: “They were more direct and it worked for them.”

FC United climbed back into the Northern Premier Division play-off places after a 4-0 home win over Grantham Town making it four successive victories at Broadhurst Park.

Manager Neil Reynolds said: “It’s pretty special. We’re turning this place into a fortress.”

A Tunde Owolabi brace and a goal from Michael Potts saw FC race into a 3-0 lead after 16 minutes before Aaron Morris added a fourth in the 90th minute.

Altrincham remain winless since November 19 in the National League North after drawing 1-1 with Kiddermins­ter Harriers.

Jake Moult levelled the scores in the 74 th minute with a scrappy finish after Kiddermins­ter went in front in the 19th minute

Curzon Ashton lost 3-0 at Brackley Town in the National League North as they fell to 20th in the table just one place above the relegation zones but still seven points above Blyth Spartans in 21st .

Ashton United’s Northern Premier Division game with Atherton Collieries was postponed thanks to a waterlogge­d pitch denying manager Michael Clegg a reunion with his former side.
