Top doc cleared of assaulting teenage girl

-

A LEADING fertility doctor has been found not guilty of punching a 16-year-old girl during a row with his partner’s ex-husband.

Professor Luciano Nardo was accused of assaulting the teenager outside his then girlfriend Victoria Cook’s home in Wilmslow in January.

The 43-year-old was also charged with assaulting Ms Cook’s ex-husband Stuart Davies, who he was alleged to have kicked 10-15 times, and assaulting Mr Davies’ father Dennis Davies.

But following a two-day trial at Tameside magistrates’ court, the renowned gynaecologist was found not guilty of all three charges.

The court heard Stuart Davies and Ms Cook divorced in October 2018 in what was described as an acrimonious split.

Ms Cook then began dating Prof Nardo, a consultant gynaecologist, in late 2018.

Prof Nardo, of Alderley Edge, denied the attack took place and said Mr Davies had in fact punched him twice to the face, breaking his nose.

Prof Nardo, who told the court he was a visiting professor at Manchester Metroplitan University, said he and Ms Cook had spent the day of the alleged attack at Hale Country Club and had returned home in the evening when Stuart Davies and Dennis Davies arrived at about 7pm.

He said: “Stuart Davies started being abusive to Victoria. I was cross. I had told him before not to use that language.

“I got punched on my right eye by Stuart Davies.

Prof Nardo, who has since split from Ms Cook, told the court: “I never kicked him, I never punched him.”
