Event / Manchester’s official free fireworks display

Manchester’s free New Year’s Eve fireworks display will be held on Deansgate, outside Manchester Cathedral, this year. Music and a big is hosting two massive parties on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Long-standing Radio 1 taste-maker Annie Mac headlines the NYE party, joined by Rudimental, Groove Armada, Hannah Wants, Artwork, Krystal Klear and Shadow Child.

For those with a strong constituti­on, the New Year’s Day line-up has Maceo Plex, Helena Hauff, Seth Troxler, Octo Octa, Joy Orbison and more.

Mayfield Depot / Tuesday 8.30pm-4am and Wednesday 2pm-midnight / £29.50 (Tuesday) & £25 (Wednesday) screen will welcome the crowds from around 10.30pm on Tuesday, December 31. A countdown will then lead up to the stroke of midnight, when a 10-minute fireworks display will sparkle over the city. If you’re hoping to ring in 2020 with a glass of something sparkling too, be warned: there’s no bar, and no alcohol is allowed to be brought to the event.

Event / NYE at Cultureple­x Manchester’s newest cultural haven Cultureple­x, which has taken over the ground floor of the Ducie Street Warehouse near Piccadilly station, will be ringing in the new year in style. Bistrotheq­ue will be serving a threecours­e set menu for £39, or for a less sit-down offer you can get two cocktails and snacks for the table for £17.50 per head in The Lounge. The whole thing will be soundtrack­ed by DJ Claud Cunningham.
