Manch­ester’s free New Year’s Eve fire­works display will be held on Deans­gate, out­side Manch­ester Cathe­dral, this year. Mu­sic and a big is host­ing two mas­sive par­ties on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Long-stand­ing Ra­dio 1 taste-maker Annie Mac head­lines the NYE party, joined by Rudi­men­tal, Groove Ar­mada, Han­nah Wants, Art­work, Krys­tal Klear and Shadow Child.

For those with a strong con­sti­tu­tion, the New Year’s Day line-up has Maceo Plex, He­lena Hauff, Seth Trox­ler, Octo Octa, Joy Or­bi­son and more.

May­field De­pot / Tues­day 8.30pm-4am and Wed­nes­day 2pm-mid­night / £29.50 (Tues­day) & £25 (Wed­nes­day) screen will wel­come the crowds from around 10.30pm on Tues­day, De­cem­ber 31. A count­down will then lead up to the stroke of mid­night, when a 10-minute fire­works display will sparkle over the city. If you’re hop­ing to ring in 2020 with a glass of some­thing sparkling too, be warned: there’s no bar, and no al­co­hol is al­lowed to be brought to the event.

Event / NYE at Cul­ture­plex Manch­ester’s new­est cul­tural haven Cul­ture­plex, which has taken over the ground floor of the Du­cie Street Warehouse near Pic­cadilly sta­tion, will be ring­ing in the new year in style. Bistrotheq­ue will be serv­ing a three­course set menu for £39, or for a less sit-down of­fer you can get two cock­tails and snacks for the ta­ble for £17.50 per head in The Lounge. The whole thing will be sound­tracked by DJ Claud Cun­ning­ham.
