Cops ar­rest four teenagers in dawn raids

FOUR teenagers have been ar­rested fol­low­ing a se­ries of dawn raids.

War­rants were ex­e­cuted at five prop­er­ties in Hyde and Den­ton yes­ter­day.

A car and ma­chete were also seized.

The raids come fol­low­ing a se­ries of bur­glar­ies, at­tempted bur­glar­ies and thefts from cars in both Tame­side and Stock­port.

More than 40 of­ficers were in­volved Op­er­a­tion War­saw, which also aims to stamp out anti-so­cial be­hav­iour.

An 18-year-old man, along with two boys aged 17, were hand­cuffed at a house in Den­ton be­fore be­ing taken away in po­lice van.

A third boy, also aged 17, was ar­rested fol­low­ing a search of a prop­erty in Hyde.

All four re­main in cus­tody and are be­ing quizzed on sus­pi­cion of bur­glary and theft from mo­tor ve­hi­cles of­fences.

Sgt Stephanie O’Brien, of GMP’s Tame­side district, said: “I hope to­day’s ac­tion shows that we lis­ten to our lo­cal res­i­dents and act on the things that mat­ter to them.”
