HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR READERS!
GREATER Manchester rang in 2020 in its usual inimitable style.
Thousands packed city centre bars and clubs to welcome the start of 2020.
The big official gathering this year was outside the cathedral on Victoria Street.
The free event featured music and a giant screen to help with the countdown to midnight.
But the entertainment was an alcohol-free affair with visitors’ bags checked by security guards as they entered the fireworks display zone.
A DJ from Hits Radio took the party-goers back through the last ten years of music.
A special Metrolink service saw the last tram running at 2am to help get revellers home.
And a series of special bus services ran until 4am.
