Driver 5 TIMES drink limit
A DRINK-DRIVER who took to the wheel on New Year’s Day while more than FIVE TIMES over the limit was driving on a tyre worn down to the metal.
Bewildered police officers posted details about the incident online after detaining a man.
He was pulled over on the M66 by a patrol when they noticed the dangerous tyre.
The officers described the incident as ‘unbelievable’.
The driver gave a breath test at the roadside in the early hours of yesterday. The drink-driving limit for drivers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath. The driver had 196 micrograms of alcohol in breath, according to the North West Motorway Police.
