Driver 5 TIMES drink limit

A DRINK-DRIVER who took to the wheel on New Year’s Day while more than FIVE TIMES over the limit was driv­ing on a tyre worn down to the me­tal.

Bewildered po­lice of­fi­cers posted de­tails about the in­ci­dent on­line af­ter de­tain­ing a man.

He was pulled over on the M66 by a pa­trol when they no­ticed the dan­ger­ous tyre.

The of­fi­cers de­scribed the in­ci­dent as ‘un­be­liev­able’.

The driver gave a breath test at the road­side in the early hours of yesterday. The drink-driv­ing limit for driv­ers in Eng­land, Wales and North­ern Ire­land is 35 mi­cro­grams per 100 millil­itres of breath. The driver had 196 mi­cro­grams of al­co­hol in breath, ac­cord­ing to the North West Mo­tor­way Po­lice.
