Berry happy new year for Jamie and Jimmy

Manchester Evening News - - TODAY’S TV -

BEST pals Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty are back in the café at the end of Southend Pier, ready for another run of their Friday Night Feast.

This is series seven, but there’s no sign of them running out of top-notch celebrity guests to join them in the kitchen yet. Coming up over the next few weeks will be the likes of Ant and Dec, Claudia Winkleman,

Jack Dee, Joe Lycett, Saoirse Ronan, Rob Beckett, and Susan Sarandon. And kicking things off is Bake Off legend and national treasure – and one of Jamie’s culinary heroes – the one and only Mary Berry. Which will make the ‘Jamie teaches the celeb how to cook one of their fave dishes’ segment a bit tricky, as let’s be honest there’s no way he can teach Bezza anything.

The café has had a makeover and got a brand new bar area and this week the boys will be cooking up dishes including a gorgeous-looking Beef Wellington for two and a gooey aromatic sundried tomato, olive, pesto and mozzarella tear and share bread. With Mary keeping an eagle eye on proceedings and offering a little help, Jamie will recreate a nostalgic seafood feast, based on her favourite memories of family holidays spent in the West Country. They’ve preparing potted shrimp, a retro crab cocktail and a whole stuffed trout.

J&J also get to indulge their childhood fantasies, cooking for the troops at RAF Wittering.
