Guardiola delighted by the gifts of the Gab!

Manchester Evening News - - SPORT -

PEP Guardiola hailed Gabriel Jesus’ continual improvement following his double in City’s victory over Everton.

The Brazilian struck both goals as the Blues claimed a hardfought 2-1 win against Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

The double took the 22-yearold’s tally for the season to 13, eight of which have come in his last eight appearances.

Injuries and a lack of starts due to the brilliance of Sergio

Aguero have hampered Jesus since his move to City in January 2017, but Guardiola is pleased with his output.

The Blues boss said: “He’s a young player but the way he defends and fights... of course he has to improve, he knows it, and we have spoken together about what he has to do, but I think every day he is better and better.

“What he has shown so far in the period he’s been here, he’s had ups and downs, but with his age and the injuries he’s had, he was excellent.

“Sergio is irreplaceable for what he means to our fans, what he’s done in this club, but every year is one season more for Sergio, and we have a lot of games, so we need good back-ups for all the players.

“Sergio has an excellent complement with Gabriel.

“They have an incredible relationship for strikers, which is good.”
