Memories of two gents

Manchester Evening News - - LETTERS, COMMENTS AND EMAILS -

ON the night to remember Bernard Halford, we also remembered Roy Cheetham, ex-City player, who died suddenly on Sunday, December 8.

A minute’s applause was observed for Roy.

I got to know him as a fellow fan of Pete MacLaine and also The Emperors of Rhythm.

Sitting next to me on the night, was Ray Vaughan, who played with Roy for Manchester boys, back in the 50s. Poignant memories.

Roy like Bernard, will be sadly missed.

Both true gentlemen.

The event, organised by ‘Mr Gorton,’ Allan Grafton, raised £1,642 on the night for The Christie, where Bernard was treated.

My ‘Memories of a truly great Blue’ (M.E.N. December 16). John Donohue, Bredbury
