LONG before Fleabag started the world’s obsession with a hot priest, Grantchester was playing that card. James Norton may have left, but Tom Brittney as Reverend Will Davenport proves a worthy replacement for the title.
It’s series five and within minutes the dashing clergyman is making eyes at a local journalist Ellie Harding (Lauren Carse). This is bound to be the love storyline of the series.
Meanwhile, Detective Inspector Geordie Keating, played by the neverageing Robson Green, has bigger fish to fry. After a raucous night among students at the end of term, a woman from a prestigious all-female college is found dead in the river.
Geordie, ably assisted by best mate Will, must infiltrate the worlds of campus politics and university drinking societies to suss out the killer.
Meanwhile, Cathy’s (Kacey Ainsworth) ambitions are starting to test her and Geordie’s relationship. It may be 1957, but he’ll need to get over that one…
