Boy, 15, knifed dur­ing fight in Gar­dens

A TEENAGE boy was taken to hos­pi­tal with stab wounds af­ter a fight broke out in Pic­cadilly Gar­dens.

Po­lice were called to re­ports of fight­ing in Manch­ester city cen­tre at around 9.15pm on Fri­day.

Of­fi­cers at­tended and found a 15-year-old boy had been stabbed.

He was taken to hos­pi­tal for treat­ment and has since been dis­charged, GMP say.

En­quiries re­main on­go­ing at this stage.

A large po­lice cor­don was in place on Fri­day night with GMP, the Tac­ti­cal Aid Unit and North West Am­bu­lance Ser­vice at­tend­ing at the scene.

An area in front of the Mor­risons store near Oldham Street was taped off.

Passers-by said of­fi­cers were turn­ing them away from the cor­don.

A GMP spokesper­son said: “Po­lice were called shortly af­ter 9.15pm on Fri­day, Jan­uary 10, 2020, to a re­port of fight­ing at Pic­cadilly Gar­dens, Manch­ester.

“Emer­gency ser­vices at­tended and a 15-year-old boy was taken to hos­pi­tal for treat­ment for stab wounds.

“He has since been dis­charged

“En­quiries re­main on­go­ing.”
