Manchester Evening News - - NEWS -

MICHELLE Keegan has quit Our Girl after four years playing army medic Georgie Lane.

The Stockport-born actress has called an end to her time on the BBC drama to make way for new acting jobs, but it’s not the end just yet.

There’s still an upcoming series set to air later this year showing Michelle’s final take as the main character, which she described as a ‘life-changing role’.

BBC bosses are now reportedly looking for a leading lady to replace the former Coronation Street star.

Michelle said: “I’ve had the most incredible four years on the show and I want to thank the BBC for giving me such an amazing opportunity. Playing Georgie has been a life-changing role for me.”

She added: “I’ve loved every second of the adventure so it was a very hard decision to make not to return. I feel it is the right time to explore other exciting opportunities but I’m so happy to be part of the new series coming soon so it’s not the end just yet.”

The 32-year-old actress has spent months away from her home in Essex with husband Mark Wright when filming for the series.

Michelle spent several months a year filming in locations including South Africa, Nepal and Malaysia.

Mark, also 32, last year moved back from Los Angeles where he was filming on US TV.
