Manchester Evening News - - NATIONAL -

A FORMER Welsh international rugby playerturned-adventurer has beaten his own British record after skiing to the South Pole.

Richard Parks, 42, travelled solo from the Antarctic coast’s Hercules Inlet to the South Pole in 28 days after battling hunger, fierce snow blizzards and freezing temperatures.

He broke his previous record of 29 days, 19 hours and 24 minutes, which he set in 2014.
