Jean-Luc who’s back...

-

WE’VE had sequels and prequels and movies and TV series, not to mention a ton of merchandise – Star Trek really does live long and prosper.

This latest incarnation is possibly the most exciting of all though as it sees the return of the legend that is Jean-Luc Picard.

Sir Patrick Stewart, last seen in the role in the film Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002, has decided that perhaps the part hasn’t run its course after all.

As his own spin-off begins, which he executive produces, it’s the end of the 24th century and 14 years after his retirement from Starfleet.

He’s living a quiet life at his vineyard, Chateau Picard, which is in France and firmly on planet Earth. He’s got a dog and a flat cap and there’s not a sniff of danger. But he’s obviously troubled by the destruction of the planet Romulus as well as the death of Commander Data, which we saw in Nemesis.

He’s having dreams that often turn into nightmares, usually involving his old friend.

Elsewhere, a couple are having a nice romantic evening when suddenly a gang of assassins appear and attack them.

Fortunately – and in a complete surprise to her – the woman transforms into some kind of super ninja.

This mysterious young woman is Dahj, played by Isa Briones, and is clearly in dire need of help.

Who else to turn to but Picard? If only he was desperate to escape his dull retirement and “live again”... oh, wait…

This is an action-packed series that will hook even those non-Trekkies among you.
