WE CAN WORK IT OUT

-

SO, my career has taken an unexpected turn in the past two weeks. I have kept my old job, now based from my kitchen table, but just for fun have added reception and year four teacher to my CV.

Expertly guided via the medium of the internet by the real experts – my children’s actual teachers – this “situation” we find ourselves in has thrown up more challenges than I ever thought possible.

Not least being freelance, a choice which now doesn’t seem as clever as it once did, but home schooling.

This is a concept which I have toyed with before as it looked rather cool and appealing from afar, but the reality is somewhat different.

Routine, I have learnt in my short stint as a “teacher” is imperative. Thanks to the internet and generosity of The Body Coach, aka Joe Wicks who is broadcasting a 30-minute long lesson live into the living rooms of nearly a million families every morning, our days have been starting at 9am with PE.

Exercise is crucial to good physical and mental health, not just for my unruly pupils but for me too. Unable now to go to the gym myself, I have adapted my workout for home and decided to boost my enthusiasm for front room exercising by ordering some fresh stretchy pants.

The brilliant thing about gym gear now is that even the good stuff doesn’t have to cost the earth.

While LuluLemon and Sweaty Betty may be top of my wish list, right now, I couldn’t justify the cost.

So I hit up ASOS who, among the sheer panelled leggings and teeny crop tops, sell some great bits.

My favourite is the Nike Yoga collection which is a hybrid of gym and lounge clothes, perfect for home-based fitness routines.

TK Maxx also had some great Varley vests discounted on its site, while Matalan, whose Souluxe collection is surprisingly good quality, have leggings starting around £12, and the best part is they stock young girls’ versions too for your mini gym buddies.

No excuses, now.
