Appeal over sickening attack on pizza man

THIS is the shocking moment a pizza delivery driver was hit over the head with a glass bottle and carjacked in Ancoats.

Police have released CCTV footage of the attack which took place on Murray Street on Thursday, January 2, at around 12.30am.

In the CCTV footage the attackers can be seen punching and kicking the man. He is then whacked over the head with a glass bottle.

The group then took his car keys and can be seen fleeing from the scene in the delivery vehicle.

The 43-year-old man was taken to hospital following the attack.

He suffered from cuts to his head and face, which were around two inches in length, as well as bruising to his shoulder.

No arrests have been made and Greater Manchester Police continue to investigat­e.

Anybody who recognises anybody in the footage is asked to contact GMP.

Detective Constable Kath Cassidy, of GMP’s City of Manchester North District, said: “This was a terrifying attack on an innocent man who was just doing his job.

“We understand this incident took place over three months ago but after following every possible line of enquiry our officers have released this CCTV in the hope that someone will be able to help.

“If you have any informatio­n or were on or near Murray Street in Ancoats at the time of the robbery please get in contact with police as soon as possible so that we can continue to piece together the events of that night.”
