PREVIEW: TROLLS WORLD TOUR (U)

-

RELEASED in 2016, Trolls was an infectious computer-animated adventure based on the fluffy-haired good luck creatures designed by Thomas Dam.

The film promoted a message of individuality to a toe-tapping soundtrack of hits by Simon & Garfunkel, Lionel Richie, Donna Summer and Justin Timberlake.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the sequel directed by Walt Dohrn and David P Smith becomes one of the first major studio films to debut as a download release, providing families with colour-saturated cheer in the run-up to the Easter weekend.

Queen Poppy (voiced by Anna Kendrick) and her survivalist beau Branch (Timberlake) are shocked when Queen Barb (Rachel Bloom) and her father King Thrash (Ozzy Osbourne), leaders of the hard rock trolls, declare war on all other forms of music.

Poppy realises that she must unite the leaders of the other troll factions, accompanied by her loyal friends Biggie (James Corden), Cooper (Ron Funches), Guy

Diamond (Kunal Nayyar), Satin and Chenille (Icona Pop). Consequently, Poppy, Branch and co embark on a time-sensitive mission to woo King Quincy (George Clinton) and Queen Essence (Mary J Blige) from the funk trolls, Delta Dawn (Kelly Clarkson) from the country music trolls, Trollzart (Gustavo Dudamel) from the classical music trolls, Chaz (Jamie Dornan) from the smooth jazz trolls and King Trollex (Anthony Ramos) from the techno trolls.
